As a singer, she remains pleasant and confident, but not so unique or fiery that she burns into the synapses as well as the best storytelling songwriters do. Otherwise the melodies and playing tend too much toward average modern rock, albeit with more heart and intellect than most. On the more expected acoustic-colored numbers, "She's Falling Apart" is, again, a standout in that it strips down the production to enough basics that the arrangement has an unguarded edginess on par with the wary uncertainty of the lyrics. As great tunes often do, the batch of eleven tracks has taken. Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb was catapulted into early success with the platinum-selling No.1 hit song Stay (I Missed You), and went on. Perhaps she should get a little more uncoiled once in a while, though, as the hardest-rocking numbers here, like "Payback" and "Too Fast Driving," deviate enough from her established brainy-yet-emotional persona to command a little more attention than usual. With her fifteenth studio album A Simple Trick to Happiness, songwriter Lisa Loeb has put forth some of her most personal songs. The emphasis is on intense examination of the motives that drive, maintain, and sometimes erode relationships, passionate without boiling into a rage. Loeb remains an above-average major-label singer/songwriter, given to pensive self-reflection that doesn't quite cross the line into self-absorption. There's not much of such things on Cake & Pie, however. not much to say about this one, it's short! just a nice addition to my collection. There was a gap of about five years between Loeb's second and third albums, which is enough time for some sort of significant growth or stylistic alternation to have taken place. it has the album (tails) version of stay as well as the "living room mix," which is basically a live version. it's a wonderful CD and a very cool addition to the collection :)Īnother CD i found on ebay. this UK version has birds, when all the stars were falling, and the purple tape version of hurricane in addition to the tails album version of do you sleep. I was able to find a sealed copy of this single on ebay. another great CD to add the the collection :) Album 2003 Nursery Rhyme Parade Album 2015 The Purple Tape Interviews. two things i love about it: fabulous cover art (i've got the t-shirt with that artwork on it) and the remix of i do is just awesome. Popular Releases by Lisa Loeb Stay (I Missed You). it's a two track single with the album version of let's forget about it (from firecracker) and the rhythm remix of i do. it has the cake and pie/hello lisa album version of someone you should know and payback. email me to find out from whom :) it was released in japan in 2001 to support the release of cake and pie. Someone you should know (japanese single) this is a great live album (i love live stuff!) and the bits of attempted japanese are really quite cute :) i got this CD off of ebay and continually look for other imports of lisa's, they're tough to find! this album is fantabulous ) they are: stay, alone, hurricane, garden of delights, and taffy. lisa decided to add several live songs from her japan tour on this album. This album is an import from japan and is an extended single of waiting for wednesday. Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories Top Songs 1: Stay (I Missed You) 2: Do You Sleep 3: I Do 4: Lets Forget About It 5: Waiting for. a must for anyone with children or for any die-hard lisa fans :) the cd also comes with a board book with a really cute story and great illustrations. catch the moon features many traditional as well as lisa originals, all meant for young children to enjoy (although i admit i enjoy them as well!). before lisa struck out on her own, she and liz, friends at brown university in rhode island, made two tapes together, "days were differnt" and "liz and lisa" (a copy of which i would give much for). Her five studio CDs include her major label debut, the gold-selling Tails and its follow-up, the Grammy-nominated, gold-selling Firecracker. Lisa released this album with her longtime friend and musical partner liz mitchell.
